Enrichment

We strongly believe that learning only begins in the classroom.

To that end, we actively seek out opportunities for our pupils to broaden their horizons beyond their immediate surroundings.

We are fortunate enough to learn in one of the most beautiful and stimulating environments in the country. This means we can take pupils out to see the landscape they are learning about in Geography or the water cycle they are studying in Science, for example.

Our pupils also benefit from workshops delivered by visitors, such as The Kielder Brag, which explored the idea of local myths through storytelling and crafts.

We work in close partnership with other local schools to provide opportunities for competitive sport such as gymnastics and rugby, as well as one projects such as 'Beneath Our Feet', exploring the rich mining history of our community.

In addition, we offer a programme of weekly after-school clubs, led by teaching staff. These take place on Wednesdays and are open to all pupils.

On Tuesdays, we offer an after-school Learning Hub, where children can come and get extra help with areas of challenge, catch up on missed work or simply read for pleasure!
