At Kielder Primary School, we consider physical activity to be a vital part of our school day. 
 
What is the Sports Premium?

The Government is continuing to provide funding to primary schools to support sport. The money goes directly to primary school headteachers to spend on improving the quality of PE and sport for all children. 

Purpose of funding

Schools have to spend the PE and Sports Premium on improving their provision of PE and sport, but we have the freedom to choose how we do this.  We use the premium primarily to fund our school minibus, which we use to transport our pupils to and from partnership sports events across the West Northumberland area.  A full breakdown of how we plan to spend the money is listed in the statement at the bottom of the page.

At Kielder Primary School, we believe that physical education and sport have a vital role to play in the physical, social, emotional and intellectual development of children. Physical education and sport are important in giving children the knowledge, understanding and the tools to make informed choices about healthy living and have a positive impact on their own health and wellbeing.

The Physical Education curriculum at Kielder aims to provide for pupils’ increasing self- confidence through an ability to manage themselves successfully in a variety of situations. Children will have the opportunity to take part in a wide range of sports and physical activities which are all carried out in a safe and supportive environment, where effort and hard-work, as well as success, is celebrated and enjoyment and working together is promoted.
